UKRAINE PAYS OFF GAS DEBTS TO RUSSIA - YULIYA TYMOSHENKO
Ukraine has paid off debts to Russia for the gas consumed, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko told the 3rd meeting of the Committee on Economic Cooperation of the Ukraine-Russia Interstate Commission Yushchenko-Putin. "Today we've sent the last payment obligation which fully cancels indebtedness for the gas consumed. And it is possible to say that Ukraine has paid off all debts," she stressed.

PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO HANDS OVER EASTER FLAME TO CHURCH REPRESENTATIVES AND UKRAINIAN COMMUNITY IN ST SOFIA CATHEDRAL
In the Sofia Kyivska National Reserve, President Viktor Yushchenko participated in a ceremony of handing over Easter Flame to representatives of Ukrainian churches and Ukrainian community, UKRINFORM correspondent reported. The Head of State was first to light one of 32 candles of the Holy Fire which was delivered from Jerusalem and addressed the ceremony participants. In his speech, President Yushchenko asked spiritual energy and happy fortune for entire Ukrainian nation.

PRESIDENT LAYS FLOWERS TO MEMORIAL MOUND "TO THE HEROES OF CHORNOBYL"
President Viktor Yushchenko took part in a commemoration prayer and laid flowers to the Memorable Mound "To the Heroes of Chornobyl". The vents took place in Kyiv on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of the Chornobyl accident occurred April 26, 1986, the presidential press-service reported.

PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO MAKES GOVT RESPONSIBLE FOR CURRENT INFLATION
President Viktor Yushchenko at a news conference in Kyiv made the Government and the National Bank leadership responsible for inflation in Ukraine. "A key responsibility lies with the Government and National Bank. I warned even in January, that the Finance Ministry, Economics Ministry and the National Bank stake their life on the price and money stability," the Head of State stressed. According to Viktor Yushchenko, quarter inflation at 9.7 percent has actually seized UAH 18 billion (USD 3.6 billion) from the Ukrainian citizens.

President Viktor believes that Ukraine and Poland succeeded during the first year of preparation to Euro-2012, he told a meeting of the Coordination Council for Euro-2012 in Lviv (West Ukraine).The President said that a document base has been put in the joint project over the period, the two presidents signed the joint declaration to strengthen cooperation on preparation to Euro-2012 between Ukraine and Poland, Ukraine and Poland's governments signed the intergovernmental agreement of cooperation, the Ukrainian-Polish Committee on Preparation and Holding the Euro-2012 Finals was signed.

PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO SUGGESTS ENHANCING SOCIAL DIALOGUE AMONG GOVERNMENT, EMPLOYERS AND TRADE UNIONS
At today's meeting of the National Trilateral Social Economic Council, President Viktor Yushchenko expressed himself for enhancement of a social dialogue in the state. According to him, there is a need for effective cooperation between main social partners: the Government, employers trade unions and. "I'm sure it is easier to address urgent issues in the society that has such a dialogue," the Head of State said.

COALITION WILL NOT BREAK UP, YUSHCHENKO BELIEVES
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko expressed the opinion at a press conference in Donetsk Thursday that the coalition of democratic forces would not break up. Nobody will leave the coalition, and no declarations can decide its destiny, he emphasized. At the same time, Yushchenko pointed out a number of conflicting points between the Cabinet of Ministers and the President. In the first place, this is election of Kyiv mayor in two runs. The head of state says it would be wrong to alter election system in one separate city. He views this idea as a kind of election technology having nothing in common with democratic process.

PRESIDENT DEMANDS FROM HEADS OF LAW-ENFORCEMENT BODIES TO INTENSIFY FIGHTING CORRUPTION
At today's meeting dedicated to fighting corruption President Viktor Yushchenko called creation of the new anti-corruption legislation, which in particular would recognize corruption as a penal act, as a primary task in this sphere. Viktor Yushchenko called on all participants in the meeting to support the law to the maximum, on the basis of which the National Investigation Bureau will be set up, a body authorized to carry out fight against corruption at high authority levels.

Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko expressed confidence at the Ukraine-NATO Commission meeting that Ukraine will join the NATO Membership Action Plan after North Atlantic Council Foreign Ministerial in December 2008. "Our meeting is running right after extremely important, historical for all European security decision. The North Atlantic Council has recently given an absolutely clear signal regarding further relations development between Ukraine and NATO," the President stressed.

UKRAINE, GEORGIA WILL STAND NEW CHANCE TO JOIN NATO MEMBERSHIP ACTION PLAN IN DECEMBER
Ukraine and Georgia lost their chance to join the NATO Membership Action Plan during the Bucharest summit, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said following the extraordinary meeting in Bucharest Thursday. At the same time, he said, agreement was reached that the two countries would make their weighty contribution to the current operations of the Alliance. According to Scheffer, the heads of states and governments ordered foreign ministers to study the progress Ukraine and Georgia made on their path to the Membership Action Plan, and pass a final decision on their applications during the meeting in December.

US SUPPORTS UKRAINE'S JOINING NATO MAP - PRESIDENT YUSCHENKO
President Viktor Yuschenko says that Ukraine has received support of the United States in its intentions to join the NATO Membership Action Plan. Yuschenko told this at the joint press conference with US President George Bush following their meeting in Kyiv.
