President says no to snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine
There will be no early parliamentary elections in Ukraine, and no Kyiv mayor elections as well, President Viktor Yushchenko told a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council. "I would like to remind that the country will see no snap parliamentary elections, just to remind that we live not a surreal, but a practical, every day life. And we have to respond to the challenge of this every day life," Viktor Yushchenko stressed.

President convinced of ruling coalition strenght
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is convinced that the ruling democratic coalition will not split, and called allegations by Internal Affairs Minister Yuriy Lutsenko as morbid. Yushchenko made a statement to this effect during a press conference in Winnipeg (Canada), where he is staying on a visit. The President emphasized that the coalition will not break up, and the hopes of those willing to avoid responsibility due to a coalition split are vain. "I will not do you this favor. People will account for what they undertook, including the internal affairs minister," Yushchenko emphasized.

PRESIDENT VIKTOR YUSHCHENKO ARRIVES IN CANADA
"Ukraine is praising the relations of special partnership established between our friendly countries," Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said in Canada. During a meeting with Governor General of Canada Michaelle Jean, he praised human and interstate relations between Canada and Ukraine, adding that the countries are united by common goals and values, particularly democracy, human rights and freedoms, and the supremacy of law.

KYIV'S ENERGY SUMMIT TRIGGERS CREATION OF NEW EURO-ASIAN OIL TRANSPORT CORRIDOR
The 3rd Energy Security Summit ended in Kyiv with signing of three significant documents. The summit participants, namely the presidents of Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia signed a Kyiv Declaration on Principles of Global Energy Security; a Joint Declaration about Caspian-Black Sea-Baltic Energy Transit Space. Apart from this, the presidents of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine signed a Joint Declaration on the Project of Euro-Asian Oil Transport Corridor. According to President Viktor Yushchenko, the Kyiv summit triggered a regional dialogue to create a single Caspian-Black Sea-Baltic Energy Transit Space, which is "a howling success".

UKRAINIAN GAS TRANSPORT AND OIL TRANSPORT SYSTEMS ARE INTEGRAL PART OF EUROPEAN ENERGY POLICY - PRESIDENT VIKTOR YUSHCHENKO
Ukrainian gas transport and oil transport systems are an integral part of the European energy policy, President Viktor Yushchenko stated at the International Forum on energy safety held in Kyiv. Yushchenko noted that presently the matter concerns formation of a new culture of energy carriers' transit from the East to the West enabling to minimize threats of energy safety. UKRAINE EXPECTS FURTHER DEEPENING COOPERATION WITH EBRD, SAYS PRESIDENT
Ukraine expects further deepening partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said during the opening of the first meeting of EBRD Board of Directors, the president's press service reported. The event was held for the second time in Kyiv. "Ukraine wants to become a territory of European investment and has the necessary potential for this. Long cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is clear evidence of this," the president said.

UKRAINE BECOMES WTO MEMBER
Ukraine has become a member state of the World Trade Organization. According to experts, the accumulated influence on the branches of national economy will have a positive character, the Economy Ministry reported. Upon Ukraine's accession to the WTO, the country has such privileges as receiving a regime of the greatest assistance in the trade area of all WTO member states, in other words, the simultaneous improvement of trade conditions with 151 countries covering 95% of the global trade.

UKRAINE HAS DEMOCRATIC MECHANISMS TO SETTLE POLITICAL CRISES, PRESIDENT YUSHCHENKO SAYS
President Viktor Yushchenko, currently on a working visit to Great Britain, made a presentation at the Royal Institute of International Affairs .Chatham House. entitled .Ukraine's Progress following Orange Revolution.. According to the presidential official web-site, in his report the Head of State focused on the policy of Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He recalled that the Ukrainian side hopes to complete talks on the new enhanced agreement with the EU with fixing a principle of the political association and economic integration with the European Union.

PRESIDENT URGES MAJORITY TO UNDERTAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR STABLE RADA WORK
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has called on the parliamentary majority to undertake responsibility for stable and constructive work of Verkhovna Rada, and immediately start consideration of the package of priority social bills. He made this call at a news briefing following his meeting with the Parliament Speaker and faction leaders, an UKRINFORM correspondent reported.

PRESIDENT SURE UKRAINE TO ALLY ITSELF WITH NATO MAP IN DECEMBER
President Viktor Yushchenko, currently on a visit to Lithuania, is sure that Ukraine will ally itself with the NATO Membership Action Plan in December 2008. President Yushchenko reasons his confidence by the fact that Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration meets both the country's national and common European interests. All the same, the Head of State thinks that Ukraine is to make a number of steps for the time remained. The matter concerns an active work of mass media, political circles, public initiatives for the Ukrainian citizens to formulate once again their views on the effective model of the national security policy and importance of Ukraine's NATO accession.

PRESIDENT PARTICIPATES IN SPECIAL PROJECT BY UKRAINA TV CHANNEL
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has participated in a special project by Ukraina TV Channel dedicated to Victory Day entitled "The Great Patriotic War - Lessons for Ukraine," UKRINFORM reported, citing the presidential press service. The head of state expressed his view on retaining memories of the war, conducting historical researches that would tell the truth about events of those times and help refrain from ideological interpretations.

YUSHCHENKO STRESSES CERTAIN STABILIZATION ON UKRAINIAN GAS MARKET
The issue of the Odesa-Brody oil pipeline pumping crude in the reverse regime should be urgently resolved before the holding of an energy summit in Ukraine on May 22-23. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko announced this during a meeting with Naftogaz of Ukraine CEO Oleh Dubyna on Tuesday. He noted that there was certain stabilization on the country's gas market thanks to a government resolution on the Naftogaz of Ukraine's balanced and deficit free financial plan for 2008.
