COALITION WILL NOT BREAK UP, YUSHCHENKO BELIEVES

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko expressed the opinion at a press conference in Donetsk Thursday that the coalition of democratic forces would not break up. Nobody will leave the coalition, and no declarations can decide its destiny, he emphasized.

At the same time, Yushchenko pointed out a number of conflicting points between the Cabinet of Ministers and the President. In the first place, this is election of Kyiv mayor in two runs. The head of state says it would be wrong to alter election system in one separate city. He views this idea as a kind of election technology having nothing in common with democratic process.

Another disputable question, in the President's view, is privatization, including of land and energy generation companies. Yushchenko sees a threat to national security from privatization of heat power plants.

He does not approve either the pattern for the Odesa portside factory privatization, because it is also a new one and goes in conflict with national security interests. Yet, as he put it, he will OK privatization program if his remarks are taken into account.

Once again Yushchenko appreciated elimination of the Tenders Chamber, with which swindlers were making their money.
