President Viktor Yushchenko congratulated a collective body of the National News Agency of Ukraine UKRINFORM on the occasion of the agency's 90th anniversary. The event falls on March 16.
Viktor Yushchenko noted that he appreciates a rich history of the agency's team which absorbed achievements and experience of many generations of Ukraine's best journalists.
UKRINFORM was the first to inform the world of the declaration of Ukraine's independence on August 24, 1991. The agency became a powerful basis in forming the national information space and unique school of the journalist skills, the letter of congratulation says.
According to the president, the professional and united team awaits new and broad prospects requiring fundamentally new approaches and creative thinking, concentration of efforts on the new key directions of the information activity, active adoption of best European and global standards.
"I believe that the agency's team will enrich and realize suitably the potential of the leader of the Ukrainian information space, sustain intense competition with honor and always set top tasks," Yushchenko stressed.
