President Viktor Yushchenko said following the Ukraine-Poland talks in Warsaw that Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic bid is not a matter of choice. "This is a matter of time, Viktor Yushchenko noted. Joining MAP is a qualitative task in the context of our integration into the Alliance".
He noted an important role of Poland on the issue of Ukraine's joining NATO MAP which was proved by today's talks, where the theme was one of the main.
President Yushchenko reiterated that he sees no prospects of Ukrainian national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity outside the collective security model.
Head of the State also stressed that when Ukraine will be close to the settlement of the issue on NATO membership, so the matter will be addressed "in the very democratic way". "We will be guided by a nationwide referendum, when every Ukrainian citizen will express his/her attitude. Let us work so far in the regime of the dialogue envisaged in NATO MAP," he pointed out.
Apart from this, the talks participants dwelled on another urgent issues within the bilateral cooperation. The matter, particularly, concerned a joint border and customs control and signing of the local movement agreement. The Ukrainian president believes the instrument will be signed till late March.
Besides, the parties discussed issues to liberalize a visa regime in the context of holding Euro 2012 in Ukraine and Poland.
