President Viktor Yushchenko may begin consultations with political forces as regards the possibility of the parliament's dissolution unless it resumes work in the nearest few days, according to the statement signed by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rayisa Bohatyriova.
Ms. Bohatyriova reminded that the head of state has already expressed concern about the parliament's inefficiency and its inability to find a way out of the current crisis. At the same time, she said, the president has stated his unwillingness to disband the Verkhovna Rada, which may lead to another period of confrontation and uncertainty.
"The "parliament's dissolution" cannot be the president's plan, and it is the parliament's political forces, that is, the parliamentary-governmental coalition and the opposition, that will bear the full responsibility for the consequences thereof," the statement by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council reads.
