President Viktor Yushchenko emphasizes that Ukraine's NATO accession poses no threat to Russia, he told in interview with the Russian newspaper "Vremia Novostey" in Moscow.
Yushchenko believes that in that case the matter concerns the right of any country to choose in what way it is going to carry on its security policy by its own.
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed Russia's worries over Ukraine's possible integration with NATO at the February 12 joint news conference with Yushchenko. According to Putin, Ukraine's NATO accession may lead particularly to deployment of foreign military bases in Ukraine.
The Ukrainian President stressed that Ukraine-NATO cooperation is not aimed to any country, Russia, first of all.
